Division 1 Selling proved tough opponents for us in a friendly at home yesterday. We ended up losing by 75 runs most of which came in the first few overs (from their opener who struck 70 off 45 balls, after I lost the toss) L. Despite this onslaught Will and Jamie fought back admirably with Jamie (2/49) dismissing both openers. Martin followed up with an excellent 2/35 from his 8 overs but Selling’s middle order was strong and they ended up amassing 268. Jim again excelled behind the stumps with a sharp stumping and an excellent direct hit run out.
Picco, fresh from another hundred on Saturday, led the reply with an excellent innings of 71. His golden season continues and he now has well over 600 runs. Can he make 1000?! Might need to have a convo with Michelle about postponing the family holiday! Hahaha.
Tim struck a rapid 32 and Jamie again suggested he’s an all-rounder who should be much higher up the order with 28no including 22 in boundaries. The rest of us didn’t reach double figures.
A big thank you to Ivan for volunteering, stepping down from playing and producing a magnificent tea. Also big thanks to Michelle for scoring on the I-pad and spending her evening watering the pitch! Thanks also to Peter for scoring the book.
SELECTION 8PM WEDNESDAY
This week we will be selecting for:
SUNDAY XI v Boughton & Eastwell (away)– a great place to play cricket thanks to the excellent position of the Flying Horse!
CRICKET WEEK – Matches on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week.
We still need a few players for Cricket Week so please make yourself available if you haven’t done so already.
Also on Wednesday we have NETS at 630pm. I don’t know about anyone else but I always seem to bat better at the weekend if I’ve had a net midweek. So try and get along. Practice – you know it makes sense!
All the best,
