We went down by 61 runs at Upchurch on Sunday but there were plenty of positives to come out of a tough game. We did remarkably well to restrict the home side to 192 after they were 90 odd for 0 wicket after 20. Picco bowled an excellent tight spell of 9 overs and Martin weighed in with 3/27. Jim continues to excel behind the stumps and took a great catch to dismiss their opener.

A middle order collapse put paid to our reply but the tail wagged with MOM Martin ending with 20 not out. Still, Upchurch are a strong young side, the weather was fine, it was as good a ground as we’ll play on and the tea was excellent .

Boot Fair – Many thanks to everyone who helped the club raise over £1500. If you weren’t able to help this time, please make a couple of hours free for the next one on Monday 27th August.

Machines Night – Wednesday 30th May at 7pm we have machines demo night where you can learn how to use the mowers and rollers which are so vital to preparing our wickets. Please try and come along as the more members who have these skills the better it is for our club and it makes your groundwork duty a lot easier. Please help the planning of this event by letting us know if you will be coming.

20/20 Our first 20/20 match is next Tuesday 5th June at home to Little Chart. If you want to play please leave a message on the Whats App Group if you can’t get down tomorrow.

Selection will follow the machines demo so make sure your names are down for next weekend’s fixtures by 8pm.

All the best,
